Don’t Sweat the Workout
PepsiCo approached Motive to contribute to Walmart’s launch of Express Delivery. I lead the VFX pre-production, supervised the volume stage, and built the composites in post production on behalf of Motive Made Studios. To lighten the load, I managed a 3D freelancer to tackle the crucial sweat droplet shot.
Pre Pro Prep
After auditing the CG capabilities and artist availability at MMS, it was clear I would need to lead VFX from behind, insuring I locked in on-set support and received footage that fulfilled our creative promises. This meant I interviewed directors, fielded creative questions around volume stage technology, and translated technical constraints to the client.
Selling the Gag
We had storyboards and ambitious creative, coming from a client and director that lacked experience with a volume stage. This meant I needed to get ahead of the curve, and place CG in front of the team sooner than later.
Covering Bases
Being the only VFX set of eyes on the stage meant a few things: I would need to gather volume Unreal Engine files, I would need to photograph and scan talent, and seek out motion control camera data.
